In 1960, an American, George Pathy, who owned property along the shore of Lake Mariut, approached the Egypt Mission members in Alexandria with an offer to sell his Mariut property to the Mission or to the Synod of the Nile at a good price, which the Synod accepted. The property contained a fully furnished house with several bedrooms and a swimming pool.
