The Anglo-Swiss Hospital, Alexandria, was founded jointly by Swiss and English physicians in the city's expatriate community. The hospital was purchased in 1948 by the Farouk I University. In 1952, the hospital was renamed The Hadra University Hospital. Schutz boarders were usually sent to the American Mission Hospital in Tanta, but in cases of emergency they were taken to the Anglo-Swiss Hospital.
